Listening Therapy
Sensory Zone Therapeutic Listening
Listening Therapy
The auditory system has connections to many parts of the brain. This makes sound a powerful way to access the nervous system and elicit positive changes. Listening therapies can help speed progress in many children and may be added to their therapy sessions and/or home program.
REI (Rhythmic Entrainment Intervention)
REI is a clinically-proven and evidence-based brain stimulation program that can be carried out at Sensory Zone and/or at home. Unlike frequency-based interventions that require the use of special headphones, REI is rhythm-based and may be listened to over open speakers. REI has benefited both children and adults with conditions such as:
- ADD
- Autism
- Bipolar Disorder
- Depression
- Sleep disorders
- Sensory processing disorders
- And more
Therapeutic Listening
Therapeutic Listening is a research-based tool that uses rhythm and frequency of sound to provide controlled sensory information. Headphones are used to play specifically recorded and enhanced music. This program is highly individualized and can be carried out both at Sensory Zone and at home. Commonly reported changes during and following the Therapeutic Listening program include:
- Improved mental flexibility
- Improved social interactions and communication
- Improved focus
- Improved ability to transition smoothly
- Improved sleeping
- Improved regulation (hunger, thirst, body)
- Successful toilet training (cessation of bed-wetting)
- Improved motor planning
- Improved timing and sequencing of motor skills
- Improved ability to balance and navigate space
- Improved handwriting
- Decreased fear of movement and fear of heights
- Reduction in sensory defensive behaviors (sound, touch, taste, pain)
- And more!
